Townsville Trunk Show
Posted on April 07 2012
What a great night! On March 29th I held a trunk show in Townsville, North Queensland, Australia. The event was produced and co-ordinated by Bridget Hart of Royalty (www.royalty.net.au) who brought a wonderful level of sophistication to the evening. Trunk shows give customers the opportunity to purchase immediately, try items on for size, see the quality of the clothes, and get the opportunity to meet with the designer directly as well as enjoy a glamourous event! It was so fun to return to the city I grew up in and to be greeted by so many supportive and glamourous Townsville women! We had almost 100 guests walk the red carpet to enjoy champagne and canapés, and get to try-on and purchase the current collection, as well as a World Premier preview of the Fall 2012 collection. Anyone who purchased on the night went into a draw to win a lifetime VIP discount of 40% off!! It was hotly contested, and the lucky winner was a very deserving Cath McNamara.
The venue was at Dance North - North Queensland's acclaimed Modern Dance Company, which is housed in a gorgeous old colonial building in the centre of the CBD. (www.dancenorth.com.au). We arrived at 10am the morning of the event for what felt like a daunting amount of work to set-up! However with the help of Tracey Gilbertson and her team at Townsville Events (www.townsvilleevents.com.au), along with Bridget, Naomi Abdilla, and my sister-in-law Johanne Ramsay the place was soon transformed. Always amazes me how chaos gives way to what appears to have been effortless!
In amongst the chaos, ex New York photographer (& temporarily Townsville based) Grant Perigo, was on-hand to get some film and stills footage for a documentary idea my friend Meg Carlsen and I have been working on. I definitely take my hat off to people who routinely have a camera in their face... it's a confronting exercise! Especially when you've got lots going on, and feeling (& looking!) less than glamourous after unpacking boxes!
Thanks for the support everyone and check out next months Duo Magazine for photos of those who attended!
