Meet the model - An interview with Kendell Welsh
Posted on March 05 2015
As a mother of 4, I am very familiar with the challenges presented when trying to get your body back after pregnancy, The thing is that even if and when we do get back to
pre-baby weight we find that our body has changed subtly, and so has they way we view it. Also as any mother will tell you we look for different things out of our clothes. A higher need for functionality and versatility for example - or more "forgiving" cut...
So this season it is wonderful to welcome back my original model Kendell post baby. Always beautiful with a real woman's body of curves, with baby Maya at 5 months of age, Kendell is almost back to pre-baby size. However despite being more "voluptuous" compared to her previous measurements in all but one style (the Maude Silk Top for which she wore a size M as she is still breast feeding) she wore a size Small (Aust size 10, US size 6). Here we ask her a few questions...JR xx.
I am sure any mother you talk to would agree the transition into motherhood is not an easy one but one you wouldn't change for the world! I've always looked forward to having my own family and now that I do (Sounds corny) but I feel so complete and content.
Continuing with modelling postpartum is also not a smooth transition as now you have a new body to adjust too when the one you had before took years to learn to love and respect and now you have to start again! But these days I find my confidence from a stronger place as I have a whole new appreciation for myself and my body as pregnancy and child birth is an incredible and empowering experience!
Definitely they both have changed! I feel that when a woman becomes a mother it puts her into that different bracket and I don't mean that in a bad way but a mother is a strong mature confident being and that should be reflected in her style. So before I walk out the door with daughter I like to ensure I look comfortable (full-time breastfeeding will enforce that regardless) but still hold a bit a class and funk with my style.
