On Safari with Dee

1) Where did you travel to?
2) Where did you stay?
MALA MALA GAME RESERVE can only be described as “stunning and surreal”! This is one of the most superb traveling experiences I have ever had; everything from experiencing the wildlife up so close in an open jeep, the natural beauty of the land and the generosity of the Rangers hosting us.
CAPETOWN TABLETOP HOTEL (gorgeous old worldly hotel)
3) Fave places to eat?
Surprisingly the restaurant at the INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT HOTEL JOHANNESBURG was fabulous; steak cooked to perfection with a stunning South African Pinot Noir and courteous service.
Picnic lunch at Rickety Bridge Wine Estate Franschhoek, West Cape
4) Inspirational or Memorable Moment?
Planting trees with the local primary school children, a “POP Grow Project, and of of course the animals on safari!
5) Any other highlights?
Sunrise and sunsets at Mala Mala
Riding on the back of a Harley Davidson around the Cape of Good Hope;
The surprise helicopter flight back to Cape Town from Cape of Good Hope, unbelievable!
6) What did you pack?
My sister frequently asks me if I own anything other than Jane Ramsay Clothing and I pretty much don’t! Everything is designed to mix, match and layer, for day or evening, casual or dressy.
I packed my bag first and thought I could take less so I actually rang Jane and together we reduced the number of items, while increasing the potential outfits!

3 ballet flats (leopard, nude & balck), 1 pair heels, black leather lace-up shoe
Long wool cardigan
Jodhpur- brilliant on safari for the cool early mornings

The Widow Clicquot by Tilar J Mazzeo
7) Do you have a strategy for packing (e.g. roll or fold garments, order of packing clothes, how do you accessorise outfits etc)?
Yes, I lay it all flat in the suitcase, then hang it when I arrive, that way I never need to use a hotel iron! The JR Range travels so compactly that I had plenty of room, so no need to roll my clothes. That’s why my bag was lighter than my husband’s! Shoes and necklaces really change an outfit, so I take a few of each.
8) Any tips on travelling?
For flights I always wear a Camilla Cargo pant, luxury T, singlet and cardigan and never leave home without travel socks to avoid kankles! I try to drink just water, however a cheeky gin and tonic relaxes an anxious traveller!
9) Any websites or resources you use for planning your holiday?
As it was all organised for us, the only websites I needed to looked at were for the weather and the Mala Mala Game Reserve.
